The Campus People Watchers staked out the Fencing Club, during one of their practices. There were seven fencers present. However, the low numbers may have been due to the fact that the club had just returned from an out of state tournament and the practice was on the Thursday before break. Regardless of the session's size, the fencing club featured all three styles: saber, foil, and epee. The group also has school gear for their members, but many of the fencers wore their own garments. During the practice, the group worked on their footwork, but a majority of the time was spent with two of the fencers sparring with each other while the others watched. The duels were set up just as they would be during a tournament, with that little buzzer thing and all!

Recommendation: We don't claim to be fencers, but this group seemed to be very fitting for anyone who is looking to develop their fencing skills regardless of fencing background. If you are interested in fighting styles of any type in a casual atmosphere you should really check out the University of Minnesota Fencing team.
